12^th January 2009 Squirrel Solutions Ltd is currently evaluating a new range of "netbook" type computers, which we hope to offer for sale shortly.

These ultra-portable machines feature Intel's latest low-power Atom processor, and a compact 10" screen. A battery life of around 8 hours is expected in normal use.

There is no optical CD/DVD drive to save space, weight and power consumption. Software may be installed from a USB CD/DVD drive, a USB Flash drive, or across the network from your server.

Most importantly, these machines also feature internal 3G connectivity. By inserting a suitable SIM, you are able to connect directly to the internet using the 3G mobile network, and stay connected to your office wherever you are.

The new range will be supplied with Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Office, and are anticipated to go on sale at around £300, not including optional mobile contract. A suitable mobile data plan from one of the big four networks is likely to cost from £15/month, depending on the required data allowance.
