Aiming high
In a release from BT today, Wotton-Under-Edge has been given a broadband trigger level of 400. While this is fairly high in relation to the size of the exchange, we believe that we can reach this target within the next few weeks.
Under BT's pre-registration scheme, a trigger level is set for each exchange that reflects the anticipated demand and the cost of upgrading the exchange. Once this number of pre-registrations has been reached, BT will upgrade the exchange.
“Many exchanges have not been given a trigger level under the pre-registration scheme,” comments Glenn Richards of Squirrel Solutions. “But it appears that once an exchange has received 300 registrations, BT review the exchange and set a trigger level.”
“We're certainly very happy that we now have something to aim for. I'm confident we can reach this trigger level within the next few weeks.”
If you are on the Wotton exchange (telephone number starting 01453 84xxxx or 52xxxx) please register your interest at www.wewantbroadband.co.uk - you are not under any obligation to sign up to broadband services if you do this. Alternatively you may prefer to sign the broadband petition in Cookability (Long Street) or the newsagent at the bottom of Pitman Place.
